| So I heard that some of the people I'm close to up her at St. Paul got
in a really bad car wreck over the weekend, but everyone is going to be
OK and I can't seem to get over the miracles God pulled in this whole
thing. One of the kids, Tyler, got thrown from the vehicle (it was in
the middle of the night and he had taken off his seatbelt to sleep) and
landed head first on the pavement, yet he hit his skull in a spot that
was actually one of the best spots to hit your skull in that kind of
situation. He's in ICU and likely will be for another week, then
they'll do some reconstructive surgery. Phil, the father of the family
(but not of Tyler, he was a friend), scraped the top of his head pretty
bad and he had surgery today, and it looks like he'll be fine and
released hopefully by the end of the week. Everyone else walked away
with only minor bruises and scrapes.
The only scary part was not knowing whether or not Tyler would make it.
Some lady who was a nurse stopped to help and I heard Tyler thinking
that she was an angel and wanting to say goodbye to his grandparents
before he "went home." Man, it was so gutwrenching. I love that kid,
he's such an amazing person. He's got two black eyes and a swollen
face, but the pressure on his brain is down to 4 (which is good,
considering anything about 20 could mean brain damage, and on Sunday
morning he was at 23). I'm just glad to know everyone is okay.
